What’s next for the ‘Voice Pay’ service?
MTV News has learned that Softgate, the voice payment provider that recently raised $15 million from private investors, is now in talks to acquire the company’s “voice payment” services from Google.
Softgate has been quietly investing in voice payments technology for some time, acquiring companies like Google Voice and Google Wallet last year.
Softgates CEO Michael O’Leary told MTV News that Softgates acquisition would be an important part of Softgate’s continued expansion of the platform.
“We are excited about Softgate and their acquisition of Google Voice,” he said.
“We will continue to work with them to help them achieve this vision and vision is very important to us.”
The company’s products are currently available on Apple’s mobile and tablet platforms.
Softgas said it would be releasing a press release soon about the acquisition, but didn’t provide any further details.
